Sketch of Miss Ansley

I wanted fast results and a more painterly look. This was done with a conte pastel pencil, my fingers, paper towel, and eraser. Now all that said, I got into too much detail - lost that loose and lost edge work I invisioned. I was working so hard to get the likeness that I lost the overall feeling of what I had in mind. But I am pretty happy with it and think I'll give it another go!

  1. Oh those eyes! Detail in the center of the face where it should be and softness on the outside edges...perfect!

  2. Thank you Ann, I was worried that I didn't get the likeness but my 22 month old recognized her.

  3. Thankyou for stopping by my blog. You are a very multi-talented lady. This is a lovely delicate piece. The eyes seem to look right at me, by not overworking you have kept that lovely look of a child. I also really like the last piece you posted, just fabulous!

  5. I think this is a precious portrait. Kids are so hard to do--I don't think your detail detracts from it at all.
